Our Topic for tonight: British History - Part 1: The Evolution of British Cuisine First of all we all live in United Kingdom and I personally think that knowing more about the country you live in is a great thing! I always like to start the discovery of a country with its traditional dishes, eating habits & historical influence on its cuisine. Where did Fish and Chips come from? Why we are so often quick to judge that British Cuisine doesn't exist or makes no culinary sense? Who came up with the Cow Pie and what is that strange Guinness sauce!? What were the British eating 2000 years ago? 1000 years ago? Where in history was a turning point for British cuisine? By whom was it influenced the most? To some of these questions and many more we can try and find answers together at our weekly Smart Dinner.

Where does it happen? Parlour, 5 Regent St, London NW10 5LG

There is no better place to explore the evolution of British Cuisine than at Parlour in Kensal Green where the award winning Chef Jesse Dunford Wood himself is creating some of the most imaginative and inspired British dishes!

Every event will be held at a different location in London, usually at a restaurant that is reasonably affordable and the food is good. We will get to try lots of news places!

When? 21st of July, arriving at 7:00 PM  Food on the table 7:30 PM

What is a Smart Dinner: It is a nice opportunity to get together in a small group of people (8 max) from all walks of life that are united by their passion for a specific topic. After a brief introduction from everyone - we will dive into our love for that evening's topic. We dont have to all be experts in the topic - but we can collectively share all our knowledge on the subject and at the end of the dinner we will all be smarter about it!

Moderation and special guests:  There will be minimal moderation. There is always a chance we will have a subject matter expert guests (I will try to invite 1 such expert per event)  who will weigh in on the conversation and share some of their knowledge with us but the whole idea is to have everyone share their thoughts, experiences and ideas on the topic and not just listen to speeches.

How much does it cost? We will charge a very symbolic amount of 5£ to reserve your seat at the table. This will cover our starters and will be a little treat from the chef. Anything else you want to eat on the day - is up to you. Treat it as a normal going out to a restaurant.
